SOUTH PARIS —The Maine Veterans’ Homes in South Paris seek artifacts, pictures and written stories from those who served in Vietnam that tell the story of the Vietnam War from their perspective. Anyone with a story to tell, and pictures or artifacts (everyday items that service members may have used) to donate to the Maine Veterans’ Homes in South Paris can contact Joel Dutton, administrator, at 743-6300.
All items received will be treated and preserved with respect; items not used for the display can be returned to its donor or donated to other military museums in Maine, according to a news release from the Maine Veteran’s Homes in South Paris.
In September, a group of facility staff along with members of local Veterans Service Organizations (VFW, American Legion, etc.) will begin to put together a permanent display of items, pictures and stories that best represents the experiences of those who served. A special commemorative ceremony will be held at MVH-South Paris on Sunday, Nov. 8, to unveil the display. After the ceremony, the items will be placed on permanent display, alongside a piece of the U.S.S. Arizona, currently on display at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris.
MVH is at 477 High St., in South Paris.
