CLERMONT, Fla. — The third-ranked Colby College women’s lacrosse team overcame an early deficit to take a 10-7 win over RIT on Tuesday.

Sara Miller had three goals and one assist for the Mules (8-1), including the final goal of the game with 2:27 to play. Kendall Smith added one goal and two assists, while Sasha Fritts and Abby Hooper each had two goals. Lindsay McCabe and Gemma Bready also scored for Colby.

Down 5-4 ealy in the second half, Colby got it going when Miller scored with an assist from Lexie Perticone with 23:58 left in the contest to start a 5-0 scoring run. Lindsay McCabe scored at 16:38 to put Colby up for good.

Claire Dickson made three saves, caused one turnover and collected one groundball in net for Colby. Sage Sarkis led RIT with three goals and one assist.

MEN’S LACROSSE

COLBY 12, WASHINGTON AND LEE 11: Austin Sayre scored with 1:27 to play to lift the Mules to the win over the Generals in Lexington, Va.

Colby trailed 11-10 late in the fourth quarter before Alex Rutan’s unassisted goal tied the score with 2:20 to play. Washington and Lee won the draw control after Sayre’s go-ahead goal. After the teams traded turnovers, Colby goalkeeper Tyler Will (18 saves) made a stop in the final seconds.

Kevin Seiler led Colby (5-3) with four goals, and Derek Youngman chipped in with three. Cam Lewis scored three goals for Washington and Lee (7-3), and Wyatt Devine made 11 saves.

BASEBALL

COLBY 15-10, HAMILTON 5-3: The Mules banged out 29 hits on the day as they swept a doubleheader from the Continentals in Winter Haven, Fla.

Colby (5-1) is now hitting .378 as a team, led by Dan Csaplar and Ryder Arsenault, who are each at .478 and have already combined for 18 RBI.

Tommy Forese led the way with three hits in game one, and six other Colby players delivered two hits apiece. Soren Hanson homered and drove in three runs. On the mound, senior Scott Goldberg started and threw five scoreless innings while striking out 10.

Every Colby starter had at least one hit in the second game, led by catcher Andrew Della Volpe with three singles. Hanson added two doubles and Greg Ladd picked up the win. Ladd pitched the first six innings, gave up two runs, and did not walk a batter.

Ryan Wolfsbe had four hits on the day for Hamilton (6-5).

KALAMAZOO 2-11, THOMAS 0-1: The Terriers held Kalamazoo to two hits in the first game, but dropped a 2-0 decision and were swept in the doubleheader at Auburnsdale, Fla.

Monmouth grad Kyle Fletcher and Anree Benitez each had three hits on the day for Thomas, which was playing for the first time this season.

In game one, Kalamazoo scored twice in the second inning on a bases-loaded walk by Joel Dayton and an RBI single by Mitchell Vankoevering. Ryan Orr and Aaron Schwark each pitched three scoreless innings for the Hornets. Lawrence grad Isiah Fleming had a nice relief appearance for Thomas, throwing two hitless innings while striking out three.

Vankoevering, Jack Clark and Scott Devine each had two hits for Kalamazoo in game two. Adam McDowell pitched four scoreless innings for the win. The Terriers scored their only run when Beau Ewton drove in Benitez with a sacrifice fly.

SOFTBALL

UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN OHIO 18, THOMAS 7, 5 innings: The Racers had 27 hits, including 12 in a 10-run third inning, to defeat the Terriers in Clermont, Fla.

Kayley Keller went 5 for 5 for UNOH (8-7), Macey Harder added four hits.

Alyssa Eugley had two hits, including a home run, for Thomas (0-3). Bri Warren also had two hits. Eugley and Warren are both Messalonskee grads.

Earlier in the day, Thomas lost 10-0 to North Central (Ill.) and 8-2 to Lawrence University. North Central is ranked 17th in the nation in Division III.
