CLERMONT, Fla. — Emilie Klein scored with just 11 seconds to play to help lift the Colby College women’s lacrosse team past Rensselaer 9-8 in a non-conference game at the National Training Center.

The third-ranked Mules (7-1 overall) trailed 6-2 at one point before Abby Hatch scored late in the half to make it 6-3 at the half.

Abby Hooper scored from Lexie Perticone with 15 minutes, 52 seconds left to play to start the comeback.

The Hatch sister duo — Maddie and Abby — later tied the game at 7-7 with 9:51 to go when Maddie scored off an assist from Abby.

Claire Dickson stopped five shots for the Mules, who will take on RIT on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

SOFTBALL

Colby splits doubleheader: Colby College’s Julia Saul earned her second win in as many starts as the Mules doubled up Middlebury 4-2 in Clermont, Fla. Colby fell 7-2 to Carthage College in its second game. The Mules improved to 3-1.

Saul pitched a complete game, giving up seven hits, striking out three and walking three.

Tori Sansone hit a three-run home run to pace the Colby offense.
