WATERVILLE — The Colby College men’s lacrosse team set a new team record for goals in a game in a 25-4 rout of Maine Maritime Wednesday at Bill Alfond Field.
Derek Youngman had three goals and six assists and Kevin Seiler notched six goals and two assists to pace the Mules (2-1). Tanner Holifield, Mark Philipps, John Grimaldi, and Taylor Dietrick all had two goals.
Colby will host top-ranked and defending national champion Tufts University Saturday at 1 p.m.
BASEBALL
BUCKNELL 8, MAINE 5: Sam Balzano and Luke Morrill each had a pair of hits but it was not enough as the Black Bears fell to the Bison in Winter Haven, Fla.
Logan Fullmer pitched 5.2 innings of scoreless relief for Maine (5-13) in the loss.
Joe Ogren had three hits for Bucknell (7-4), while Brett Smith had a pair of doubles.
SOUTHERN MAINE 10-9, SUFFOLK 6-5: Messalonskee graduate Sam Dexter finished 3-for-7 with four runs scored and three RBIs as the Huskies swept a doubleheader with Rams in Winter Haven, Fla.
Erskine grad Shyler Scates picked up the win in the opener after giving up four earned runs on eight hits in five innings while striking out nine. Matt Bender had a home run and drove in seven runs in Game 1.
