YORK — A Maine state police cruiser and Saco police cruiser were damaged in a high speed pursuit of a New Hampshire driver that reached speeds of 100 mph.

Maine state police spokesman Steve McCausland says police received two complaints of speeding and erratic driving by the driver of a white truck with New Hampshire plates at around 11 p.m. Thursday.

A trooper stopped the vehicle at one point, but the driver sped off northbound on Interstate 95.

The driver was stopped only after Trooper Richard Reaser forced the vehicle to a halt. Thirty-one-year-old Michael Fender of New Hampshire is charged with operating under the influence, eluding a police officer and resisting arrest.

McCausland said Fender was taken to York County Jail.

It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
