A private Augusta school is hosting a basketball game Friday to raise money for the city’s chief of police.
St. Michael School has scheduled the second annual Saints vs. The Law basketball fundraiser for 6 p.m. Friday at the school at 56 Sewall St.
Proceeds from this year’s event will be given to Police Chief Robert Gregoire, who continues to suffer limited mobility after injuring his spinal cord during a motorcycle crash in September.
Gregoire, who returned to work in January, continues to improve but requires therapy and equipment beyond what is covered by his insurance.
Bishop Robert Deeley will visit the school Wednesday to present Gregoire with a check.
The basketball game will feature St. Michael teachers, alumni and friends who will take on representatives from local law enforcement, including Augusta Police.
Denise Levesque, marketing director for St. Michael School, said the game is “a great opportunity to say thank you to Chief Gregoire and to all law enforcement officers.”
Admission to the game is $5 per person or $20 for a family of four or more.
