The Maine Federation of Farmers’ Markets recently awarded Pittsfield farmer Tom Roberts of Snakeroot Organic Farm its Founders’ Award, according to a MOFGA news release.

The award honors Roberts’ decades of dedication, service and mentorship to Maine’s farmers market community. Roberts recognized the importance of farmers markets to the viability of Maine’s farms and food network as far back as the early ’90s, and formed a network of like-minded individuals that eventually became the Maine Federation of Farmers’ Markets, according to the release.

He also has impacted farmers and farmers markets across the state with his generous and thoughtful sharing of knowledge and experience.
