FAIRFIELD — A man robbed the Cumberland Farms convenience store on Main Street early Monday morning, police said.
The robber entered the store at 205 Main St. at 12:38 a.m., demanded money from the clerk and then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to Fairfield Police Chief Thomas Gould.

The clerk was the only person in the store at the time of the robbery, and the robber did not show a weapon, Gould said.
The robber is described as a blue-eyed man 5-feet, 8-inches tall. He was wearing a dark colored jacket with a hood, and his face was covered with a scarf, Gould said.
“We have some leads right now, but could use some more,” Gould said.
The same Cumberland Farms store was nearly robbed on Dec. 26 after a man gestured to a clerk that he had a weapon and demanded money from the cash register at 1:54 a.m., police said. He fled, but made away with only a pack of cigarettes when he was interrupted by a customer. That would-be robber was described as possibly Hispanic about 6 feet tall with a goatee.
