TOPSHAM — Police say a Lisbon man injured in a car crash in Topsham while on his way to work earlier this month has died.

Christopher Wheeler was severely injured when his vehicle slid on a snowy Route 196 and into the path of an oncoming garbage truck just after 6 a.m. on Feb. 9.

Wheeler was on his way to work at the Bath Iron Works.

Police announced Thursday that the 48-year-old Wheeler died earlier this week at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Wheeler’s passenger was also injured, but survived.

According to his obituary, Wheeler was a U.S. Air Force veteran who leaves behind a wife and two children.
