School Administration District 53 kindergarten registration for the 2015-16 school year has begun. The district comprises Burnham, Pittsfield and Detroit.
Children must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15 in order to start school. Screening information is available by calling Manson Park School in Pittsfield at 487-2281 before April 3, according to a SAD 53 news release.
Screening will be held Monday, April 13, at Manson Park School. Appointments will be made after the completed paperwork has been returned. As part of the screening process, children will be involved in activities which include general readiness, vision, hearing, motor coordination and speech/language development. To complete the registration forms, parents/guardians will need a copy of the child’s vital record of live birth and proof of immunization including the varicella vaccination. To receive a registration packet, call or stop by Manson Park School.
The Manson Park preschool program is also taking applications for the school year. Child born between Oct. 15, 2010, and Oct. 15, 2011, are eligible for the free program, which is open to all families in SAD 53.
Call the superintendent’s office at 487-5107 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. for an application. To complete the application, parents/guardians will need a copy of the child’s vital record of live birth and proof of immunization including the varicella vaccination. The screening will be held Monday, June 1, at Manson Park School.
