WATERVILLE — The WinterFest event that had been scheduled for Saturday at Green Street Park off Sherwin Street in the city’s South End has been postponed until Feb. 28 because of expected cold temperatures and concerns about participant and volunteer comfort and safety, according to organizers.

The festival, sponsored by Inland Hospital, the South End Neighborhood Association and the city’s Parks & Recreation Department, is free and open to the public and includes cross country skiing, sledding, snowshoeing and refreshments.

Last year, about 150 people attended, according to South End Neighborhood Association Co-chairwoman Heather Merrow.
