BANGOR — Sophie Weckstrom scored 17 points to lead the Maine women’s basketball team to its ninth consecutive victory, 63-45 over Hartford on Sunday.
The game drew 3,287 fans to the Cross Insurance Center, the largest for a Black Bears home game since Dec. 21, 2009, against Duke.
Maine (17-6, 9-1 America East Conference) scored the game’s first 11 points and was never seriously threatened. Junior forward Liz Wood hit a 3-pointer to open the scoring, making her the 18th player in Black Bears history to reach 1,000 for her career. She finished with 11 points and six assists. Sigi Koizar, limited to 21 minutes by foul trouble, added 13 points.
Amber Bepko led Hartford (13-12, 7-4) with 11 points.
