Richmond High School graduate Jamie Plummer scored 20 points and the University of Maine at Augusta women’s basketball team pulled away in the second half for a 55-39 victory over Vermont Tech in Bangor Sunday afternoon.

Plummer scored 14 of her 20 points in the second half. UMaine-Augusta led 20-19 at halftime, but outscored the Knights 35-20 after the break.

With the win, the Moose improved to 14-9 overall and 8-4 in the Yankee Small College Conference. Monmouth grad Kylie Kemp added 16 points and 10 rebounds for UMA. Carmen Bragg chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Erskine grad Jessica St. Amand contributed seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

Paige Wells played all 40 minutes for Vermont Tech., and led the way with 12 points and 16 rebounds. The Knights are 6-18 overall and 5-7 in the conference.

UMA held the Knights to 13 for 60 (21.7 percent) shooting from the field.

VERMONT TECH. 49, UMAINE-AUGUSTA 47: Lawrence grad Keith Chesley had 16 points and nine rebounds, but the Moose lost a tough one to the Knights in Bangor.

UMA was within 48-47 on a 3-pointer by Chesley with 22 seconds left. After Vermont Tech’s Nick Ryan made a free throw with 10 seconds to go, the Moose could not score before time ran out.

Logan White scored 12 points for Vermont Tech, which won despite making only only one field goal over the final 6:49 of the game. Jamal Hughes scored 10 points, and Zach Ouellette added nine rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Maranacook grad Taylor Wilbur hit for 12 points for UMA. Garrett Alley added 10 points. Brandon Rogers chipped in with 13 rebounds and five blocked shots.

Both teams are 9-15 overall. Vermont Tech is 6-5 in the conference, while UMA is 3-8.
