WATERVILLE — No. 6-ranked Amherst College held the Colby College women’s basketball team to under 30 percent shooting to pick up a 65-54 victory over the Mules at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

Ali Doswell and Megan Robertson both had 12 points to pace the Lord Jeffs (18-2, 5-2 New England Small College Athletic Conference).

Hall-Dale graduate Carylanne Wolfington paced Colby (13-5, 3-4 NESCAC) with 14 points, Brooke Chandor added 12 points and nine rebounds and Cony grad Mia Diplock finished with 11 points.

MAINE 52, ALBANY 44: The Black Bears snapped a 10-game losing streak against the Great Danes to move into a tie for first place in the America East standings.

Sigi Koizar led all scorers with 17 points for Maine (16-6, 8-1), while Chantel Charles added a career-high 16 points.

MAINE 2, UCONN 2: The Black Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but could not hold on and settled for a draw in Hartford, Conn.

Cam Brown and Blaine Byron each scored goals for Maine (10-16-2, 5-8-1 Hockey East), while Ryan Tyson and Trevor Gerling each scored for UConn (8-12-6, 5-6-3).

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

UNH 4, MAINE 2: The Black Bears cut a three-goal lead down to one midway through the third period but could not draw any closer in Durham, N.H.

Brooke Avery, Nicoline Jensen, Heather Kashman and Jonna Curtis each scored goals for New Hampshire (8-18-1, 5-10-Hockey East) in the win.

Jennifer More and Emilie Brigham were responsible for the two Maine (10-13-3, 9-6-1) goals.
