World Record Ride, 11 a.m., Oquossoc

The Rangeley World Record Snowmobile Ride for Cystic Fibrosis will leave from Bald Mountain Camps. Last year, the group raised $22,000 and had 385 snowmobiles riding for a world record. The ride starts in Oquossoc and travels to Rangeley. For more information, call 671-7275.

Sled Dog Race, 9 a.m., Greenville

The ninth-annual Plum Creek Wilderness Sled Dog Race takes place across forested mountain trails on land owned by Plum Creek Timberlands and the Appalachian Mountain Club. Full Moon Hike, 6 p.m., Jefferson

Join naturalist Lynn Flaccus for a full moon hike and owl prowl at Hidden Valley Nature Center. Come learn to call for owls and identify their calls as you explore some of the 30 miles of trails. This event is great for hikers of all ages and abilities. The walk will be a little more than a mile, and the difficulty will vary depending on the ground conditions. Dress warmly with layers and bring snowshoes if necessary. Bring a headlamp or flashlight as well. The cost is $5. Register at hvnc.org/registration or call 200-8840.

Twilight Walk, 6 p.m. Feb. 13, Biddeford

The Eastern Trail Alliance is hosting a twilight walk on the section of the trail in Biddeford. Meet at the rear of the Southern Maine Health Care parking lot. Whiskeag Trail Outing, 1 p.m. Feb. 14, Bath

Bath Trails invites kids, adults and families to explore the Whiskeag Trail on Nordic skis and snowshoes. Meet at McMann Athletic Fields, near the intersection of Congress Avenue and Aegis Drive. Chuck Mainville of the Maine Youth Sports Opportunities, a Nordic skiing program for local families, will be on hand to lead the cross-country skiers. The athletic fields and nearby paths sport gentle slopes and a variety of trail lengths to make it a good location to improve cross-country skiing skills. Maine Master Naturalist volunteers will join the snowshoers along the trail to point out animal tracks and teach about wildlife survival. Winter Tree ID, 10 a.m. Feb. 14, Holden

Join Steve Sader for a tree identification walk. Learn how to identify evergreen conifers and hardwood trees in their leaf-off condition, using clues about the size, form, habitat, buds, leaf scars, fruit and bark characteristics. Also learn how to use a winter plant key to identify unknown species. Bring binoculars and a hand lens if you have them. The cost is $15. Register at maineaudubon.org.
