FARMINGTON — Because the Maine CDC has reported widespread influenza activity, Healthy Community Coalition is offering vaccines to those 18 and older at worksites, community locations, and at the HCC office, one-fourth mile west of Franklin Memorial Hospital on U.S. Route 2, according to a HCC news release.

According to the Maine CDC, the vaccine appears to be a good match to three strains this year, and it is not too late to get vaccinated. Vaccination is the single best way to prevent influenza and it may have some cross protection even against the drifted influenza H3 viruses, according to the release.

Most insurance companies cover the cost of receiving the shot and HCC is able to bill several insurances. For individuals not covered by insurance there is a suggested donation of $20 or whatever you can afford. Healthy Community Coalition purchases all vaccine used for the public clinics and appreciates donations to help cover costs for those in need.

For more information or to schedule a vaccination time for yourself or organization, call the Healthy Community Coalition at 779-2750. Walk-ins are welcome at HCC, but call ahead to insure a nurse will be available.
