WINSLOW — A 91-second flurry early in the first period proved to be all the Bangor High School hockey team needed to down Messalonskee 6-1 Wednesday night at Sukee Arena.

Trevor DeLaite’s goal 5 minutes, 7 seconds into the first period opened the flood gates, as the junior forward scored again 54 seconds later and Jake Fournier added another just 37 seconds after that.

The Rams (4-0-0) struck once more before the end of the opening period when Alec Coleman-Pray put one home to make it 4-0, but in the second Messalonskee (2-1-0) showed some fight when Jared Cunningham got the Eagles on the board with 5:33 to go in the period.

Ultimately, it may have been too much fight though. Jake Dexter was assessed a five-minute major on a hit from behind with 1:12 to go in the period with Eagles already a man down.

Less than 30 seconds later Bangor took advantage, as Fournier scored his second goal of the game to more or less put things away for the Rams.

Bangor rounded out the scoring for the contest with another goal from Coleman-Pray 5:03 into the third period.
