Local Principal Jonathan Moody, of Oakland, was recently recognized for countless hours of service to the community. On Dec. 9, local Modern Woodmen of America members honored him as a hometown hero.
Moody was recognized for his dedication, leadership, contribution of countless hours of enthusiastic support of the students and faculty, and for casting and implementing his vision of what a high school community should be at Messalonskee High School, through Modern Woodmen’s Hometown Heroes Program. As part of this program, members of the local Modern Woodmen chapter will present the recipient with a certificate and a $100 award grant, to be presented to the charitable organization of the honoree’s choice.
“The Hometown Hero program allows us to thank those who give back to the community and encourage others to volunteer,” says Patrick Linehan, local Modern Woodmen chapter activities coordinator, in the release.
Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, chapters provide opportunities to take part in social activities and community service projects to meet local needs.
