JEFFERSON — The Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District will hold a free Stream-Smart Road Crossings workshop from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Damariscotta Lake Watershed Association office, 38 Lake Farm Circle.

Stream-Smart Road Crossings, developed by Maine Audubon and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, were created to enhance statewide stream restoration and conservation efforts, according to a news release from the conservation association. The workshop aims to promote better designs for stream crossings that protects the road and surrounding habitat. The workshop will introduce participants to basic rules to follow when replacing culverts, slides of before-and-after culvert replacements, as well as an introduction to the Stream Habitat Viewer, which helps those responsible for maintaining roads learn about stream habitats in their region.

All are welcome, especially those who are a member of a road association or responsible for maintaining a private road. For more information or to register, call 596-2040, email hildy@knox-lincoln.org, or visit www.knox-lincoln.org.
