WATERVILLE — Five different players scored as Colby College shut out Thomas College 6-0 in women’s soccer action Wednesday afternoon at Colby.
Aliza Van Leesten scored twice for the Mules (2-3). Cami Notaro, Lauren McCarthy, Georgia Lubrano and Lauren Arnold each added a goal.
Ashley Conley and Emily Brook combined for four saves for Colby.
Erskine Academy graduate Paige Leary made 15 saves for Thomas (2-3).
UMAINE-FARMINGTON 1, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Mt. Blue grad Ava Amador scored the game’s only goal in the second half as the Beavers edged the Monks in Farmington.
Amador scored at 58:38, with the assist going to Katie Clark. Sam Hatch made five saves for the shutout. UMF is 1-1.
St. Joe’s (1-4) used three different goalkeepers, who combined for one save.
MEN’S SOCCER
Thomas 1, Bates 0: Tre Ming scored his first goal of the season in the second half to push the Terriers past the Bobcats in Waterville.
Ming, who had four assists in Thomas’ first three games, scored on a penalty kick after being fouled in the box at the 73:23 mark.
Winston Trott came up with eight saves for Thomas (2-2), including a diving stop to deny Nicolas Visser in the final minutes. Sam Polito stopped three shots for Bates (0-2-1). The Bobcats had a 19-12 advantage in total shots.
Colby 2, Husson 1: The Mules overcame a fine performance by Husson keeper Brian Potter to squeak past the Eagles in Bangor.
Colby outshot Husson 25-8, but Potter, a Waterville native and Erskine grad, made eight saves. The game was tied at 1-1 when Matt Ayers fed Charlie Dupee for a goal at 86:08.
Brandon Fahlberg scored in the first half for Colby (2-1), and Husson’s Stephen Berenyi tied it up in the second half. The Eagles are 2-3.
Cody Funkhouser stopped four shots for Colby.
UNE 3, UMAINE-FARMINGTON 0: The Nor’easters outshot the Beavers 23-4 on their way to the win in Biddeford. Dexter Doucette, Matthew Christie and Will Bushey accounted for the goals for UNE (2-0-1). Ronie Morales had nine saves for UMF (0-1).
FIELD HOCKEY
USM 2, UMAINE-FARMINGTON 0: Peyton Dostie and Leanne Reichert each scored a goal as the Huskies won in Farmington.
Samantha Crosman added an assist for USM (2-2), and goalie Amanda Kasbohm made 11 saves. Patricia Smith had three stops for UMF (2-1).
