Summer may be hitting its peak, but the end is in sight for school kids.
Superintendent Eric Haley of Waterville-based Alternative Organizational Structure 92 told the school board this week that school will open on Wednesday, Aug. 27, for kindergarden through sixth grade and Aug. 28 for all other students. The district includes Waterville, Winslow and Vassalboro.
New staff orientation will take place on Aug. 22, a Friday, followed by the first day for all staff on Monday, Aug. 25.
Haley said the orientation will give board members a chance to become acquainted with the new crop of teachers.
“We invited the school board to meet the new staff before the school year starts,” Haley said Wednesday afternoon.
