HALLOWELLL — Local roots band the Boneheads will kick off the Vaughan Homestead’s 2014 “Garden Stage” series, a new picnic concert series, at 6 p.m. Thursday at historic Vaughan Homestead. People are invited to enjoy a sweeping view of the Kennebec as well as the Homestead’s historic gardens while listening to music or watching a movie. The series will feature local musicians the Boneheads, Mr. Harley & the Strollers, Ed DesJardins, and Ken Lebreque, as well as movies on the lawn.

Those who attend are encouraged to stop at a favorite restaurant downtown for some take out, pack up a picnic blanket and settle in on the Homestead lawn. The Maine-based Boneheads’ offers a unique blend of folk, rock, blues, country, cajun and soul.

Concerts will take place rain or shine. Covered space is available for the first 50 reserved tickets. Additional tickets may be sold “at the door” with the understanding that covered space is full. Purchase concert tickets online at vaughanhomestead.org. $10 for adults, $5 for children, $25 for a family, 2 and younger free. Movies are free, and no reservations are required. Bring your own lawn chairs and picnic blankets.
