AUGUSTA —Two episodes of a show revolving around events happening at Cony High School and the students that go to school there — “Cony Central” — are available to view on YouTube. The show is produced, edited and hosted by Peter Ackerman of Augusta, a 2014 graduate of Cony High School and son of Francis Ackerman and Anne Marie Buschardt. Among the students who have been interviewed on the show are former Cony quarterback Ben Lucas; Mexican exchange student and singer Juan Antonio Dogre; singer Jasmine Valdes; and Liam Waits, who hosted an eating competition on the show.
The show has also aired on CTV7, Augusta’s education and government access channel. Ackerman, a self-taught filmmaker, has relied on You Tube tutorials to hone his skills. He has also interned with Andrea Dubois of CTV7. Ackerman plans to attend Silkeborg Hojskole in Denmark, where he will learn Danish and practice filmmaking. As a part of the program, he will travel with a group to Uganda for three months, during which time he plans to incorporate his interest in making films.
Ackerman was recently named judge’s choice grand prize winner in the World Ocean’s Day Video Contest 2014.
