AUGUSTA — Old Fort Western, 16 Cony St., will host several area history reenactment groups on Saturday, Aug. 3, and Sunday, Aug. 4.

Attendees will see what the life of a soldier was like during the French and Indian War. There will be sentries guarding the fort, a blacksmith making nails, bateau men rowing the cargo boat on the Kennebec River and soldier’s rations cooking over an open fire. Participants will interact with the soldiers of both garrison and marching scouting companies.

All are welcome. The fort will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Fort admission will be half price on Saturday. On Sunday, professional silhouette artist Ruth Monsell will provide traditional, freehand cut silhouettes of children and adults, done from live five-minute sittings — or from profile pictures — starting at $25.
