Historical interpreter Pete Morrissey builds a mortar pit at Fort Western on Sunday in Augusta.
Morrissey said that the Union Jack was flying at half-staff in honor of Lee Rigby, 25, a drummer in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, who was murdered last week in the Woolwich section of London.
Morrissey explained that Fort Western was British in the mid-1700s, the time period that they’re recreating there, so they wanted to honor Rigby.
The city museum opened over the weekend, and is open daily from 1 to 4 p.m. through Sept. 2.
