AUBURN — Walmart reopened Friday afternoon after a bomb threat forced an evacuation, the Auburn police said.

The Walmart at 100 Mount Auburn Ave. received a telephone call that there may be a bomb in the bathroom, said Auburn Police Sgt. Eric Audette. The caller said they had seen a posting on Facebook about the potential bomb, Audette said. The identity of the caller was not disclosed.

Walmart contacted the police and evacuated the store.

After searching the store and finding nothing suspicious, Walmart made the decision to reopen, Audette said.

The company’s headquarters, which is located in Bentonville, Arkansas, made the decision to allow employees and shoppers back in the store, he said.
