AUGUSTA — Several of Gov. Paul LePage’s nominees for new terms on Maine’s court benches have won solid committee support.
Five committees are meeting in the State House on Tuesday to take up dozens of the governor’s nominations. More confirmation hearings are scheduled for Wednesday before the Senate comes in Thursday to vote on the committee recommendations.
On Tuesday, the Judiciary Committee voted to endorse the renomination of Justices Jeffrey Hjelm of Rockland, Thomas Humphrey of Portland and Thomas Warren of Portland to the Superior Court bench.
Additional votes on Justices Joyce Wheeler of South Portland as Superior Court justice and Carl Bradford of Portland as active retired justice on the Superior Court were pending. Also awaiting review was a new nominee, John Lucy of Bangor, as District Court judge.
