AUGUSTA — Spectrum Generations, central Maine’s Area Agency on Aging and Aging and Disabilities Resource Center, recently announced Natalie Labbe as the new activity aide for the Adult DayBreak program at its Muskie Center in Waterville.

Labbe’s previous experience includes working at Good Will-Hinckley for eight years teaching teens life skills. She also helped reunite parents with their children through a program called Stepping Stones. Labbe and her husband of 41 years live in Shawmut.

Maine hospitals receive recognition

FARMINGTON — Franklin Memorial Hospital has again been named as one of 154 of the nation’s most wired hospitals, according to the 2012 Most Wired Survey in the July issue of “Hospitals & Health Networks,” the journal of the American Hospital Association.

According to the study, the nation’s most wired hospitals are leveraging the adoption and use of health information technology to improve performance in a number of areas. As a theme, hospitals are focused on expanding and adopting information technology that protects patient data and optimizes patient flow and communications.

The survey asked hospitals and health systems nationwide to answer questions regarding IT initiatives. Respondents representing 1,570 hospitals were considered for the award.

Along with Franklin Memorial Hospital, Maine Medical Center in Portland, as well as Eastern Maine Medical Center and Acadia Hospital, both in Bangor, are the only hospitals in Maine to be recognized this year.

Johnny’s Selected Seeds celebration

ALBION — A company event was recently held for the employees of Johnny’s Selected Seeds, board of directors and others was at Johnny’s Selected Seeds Research Farm, recognizing founder Robert Johnston, who founded the company almost 40 years ago.

Johnston and his wife, Janika Eckert, were thanked for their dedication and hard work accomplishing Johnston’s vision for a seed company that would find the best-tasting and most adaptable varieties and sell them to gardeners and growers. The company has 130 full-time employees.
