JACKMAN — Gage Myrick drove in three runs and Kade Strout pitched a complete game to lead Richmond to a 7-4 win against Forest Hills in a Western Maine Class D quarterfinal baseball game Wednesday.
The win was the fifth in a row for the No. 5 Bobcats (6-10) who advance to Friday’s semifinal against top-seedd Buckfield. No. 4 Forest Hills finishes at 9-8.
Myrick doubled home a pair of runs in Richmond’s five-run second inning and added a pair of singled. Randy Moody also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Ethan Levesque singled, tripled and hit a solo homer to lead the Tigers while teammate Ryan Petrin singled and hit asolo home run.
Strout (3-2) allowed seven hits, struck out two and didn’t issue a walk.
Class B boys lacrosse
No. 3 Yarmouth 18, No. 6 Oak Hill 4: Bart Gallagher and Christian Henry each had four goals as the third-seeded Clippers (8-5) handled the sixth-seeded Raiders (8-5) in an Eastern Class B quarterfinal at Yarmouth.
Gallagher also had four assists and Max Watson finished with three goals.
Trevor Sampson and Brian Daniels each had two goals for Oak Hill.
NYA 16, Maranacook/Winthrop 5: Forest Milburn scored six goals and Jacob Scammon five to lead the No. 4 Panthers to the Class B East win.
Luke Emery led the No. 5 Hawks (9-4) with two goals while Toby Smith, Zach Glazier and Gabe Giguere scored one apiece. Zack Bissette made 10 saves in goal for Maranacook/Winthrop.
Class A track
LEWISTON — Cony’s Lindsey Folsom won the Class A pole vault state championship at Bates College on Wednesday night. The event was postponed from Saturday’s meet due to wet conditions. Folsom won with a jump of 11 feet, giving her both the indoor and outdoor titles this year. The Cony junior also won the outdoor title two years ago.
Scarborough’s Catherine Bailey finished second to give the Red Storm the team title.
On the boys side, Cony’s Chris Paradis finished in a tie for sixth place with a jump of 11 feet, 6 inches.
