Augusta Historic Preservation Commission member Andy Loman, left, inspects a sign that Augusta Public Works employees Matt Jackson, center, and Steve Veilleux installed Monday near the Civil War monument on Memorial Circle in Augusta. The city installed 13 new signs across the community as part of the Museum in the Streets seasonal tours to recognize the service of Augusta citizens during the Civil War. The sign says the above monument of a woman is 50 feet from base to sword tip and “in her hands are an American flag and the sword that saved the nation.”
