NEWPORT — Alonzo Connor had 17 points and seven rebounds to lead Gardiner past Nokomis 68-50 for a big Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B boys basketball win Friday.

Jake Palmer led the scoring with 24 points for Gardiner (11-1) while Matt Hall added 11 points and Aaron Toman chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Nokomis (8-3) was led by Ethan Pearl with 12 points and Spencer Hartsgrove with 11.

Wiscasst 61, Winthrop 25: Jordan Jones had 24 points, five assists and four steals to lead host Wiscasset to the Mountain Valley Conference win.

Travis Padilla and Jason Weatherbee each added seven points for Wiscasset (6-5). Padilla also had five rebounds.

Dakota Carrier scored a team-high nine points for the Ramblers (2-9).

Erskine 56, Messalonskee 45: Tyler Belanger had 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead Erskine to the KVAC B win in South China.

Devin Duncan added 15 points for Erskine (5-7) while Tom Grady scored 13.

Messalonskee (1-11) was led by Elijah Steele with eight points and Luke Vigue with seven.

Brunswick 54, Cony 42: Trent Anderson scored 14 points and Garrett Erb added 12 to lead the Dragons to the KVAC Class A win in Augusta. The Rams cut the lead to five points in the fourth quarter and had the ball but turned it over and could get no closer. Zack Lachance led the Rams with nine points while Ben Lucas scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Brunswick is 8-4, Cony is 4-8.

Richmond 44, Valley 39 OT: The host Bobcats outscored the Cavaliers 7-2 in overtime to earn the East-West Conference upset Thursday. Randy Moody scored 16 points to lead Richmond (4-8), which trailed 34-27 heading into the fourth quarter when it outscored Valley 10-3. Ben Carver added 10 points.

Valley (8-3) was led by Caleb Wade with 15 points and Josh West with 12.

Boys hockey

Messalonskee 6, Orono 3: Chase Cunningham and Sam Dexter each scored six points to help the Eagles win an Eastern B game at Alfond Arena in Orono on Thursday night.

Cunningham had three goals and three assists; Dexter had two goals and four assists.

James Varney also scored for Messalonskee (7-1-0).

Connor McKaig had two goals to lead Orono (2-6-1).
