WATERVILLE — Nikki Pickering scored 10 minutes into the second half and then assisted on a late goal by Annie Papadellis to help the Colby College women’s soccer team to a 2-0 win over the University of Southern Maine on Wednesday.
Kate Laxson added an assists for Colby, which improves to 5-4-1. Emily Brooks had three saves to earn her fifth shutout of the season.
Kat Rothe had five saves for USM (2-11-0).
Unity 1, Thomas 0: Kristy Manuell scored the lone goal of the game late in the second half as the Rams beat the Terriers in Unity.
Paige Blaker had 11 saves for Unity (7-3-0).
Kate Thibodeau stopped seven shots for Thomas (2-11-0).
Field hockey
Bowdoin 6, UM-Farmington 0: The Polar Bears scored three goals in a span of 3:15 in the first half on their way to a win over the Beavers in Brunswick.
Liz Clegg, Katie Herter, Cathleen Smith and Pam Herter each had two goals while Liz Clegg and Katie Herter had one each for Bowdoin (9-0-0).
Felisha Taylor and Curran Brierley combined for 12 saves for UMF (6-5-0).
