NORWALK , Conn. — The Central Maine 13-year-old Babe Ruth team had its season end Thursday in the New England Regionals after it fell 4-3 to Cranston, R.I.
Central Maine needed to beat Cranston, R.I. twice Thursday at Brian McMahon High School to reach the World Series.
However, a seventh inning rally lifted Cranston to the title.
Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Mike Lonardo lifted Cranston to victory when he hit a two-run single to center.
Jonathan Wilkie had a two-run triple and JT Nutting delivered an RBI single to lead Central Maine.
Nick Mayo and Ben Frazee combined to strike out five Cranston hitters.
